De meren is bereikbaar via het Rhonetal. Vanuit Sion rijdt men tot de laatste grotere plaats Fortunau. Daarna leidt een bochtige bergweg naar het stuwmeer. Te voet kan men ook via de Rawilpas of het Schnidejoch uit het kanton Bern naar het meer.
Oorspronkelijk zou de Simmental-autosnelweg via de Rawil-pas naar Wallis worden geleid – een tunnel zou dicht bij de Tzeuzier-dam zijn komen te liggen. Omdat bij sonderingen grotere bewegingen bij de muur plaatsvonden dan verwacht, werd niet alleen het peil van het meer verlaagd; het was een van de redenen dat de autosnelweg jarenlang werd vertraagd, totdat deze uiteindelijk werd opgegeven. Met de Lötschberg-basis tunnel werd ze volledig obsoleet.
