El campo de concentración de Bad Sulza estuvo en funcionamiento desde octubre de 1933 hasta el 1 de agosto de 1937 en un antiguo hotel de la ciudad balneario de Bad Sulza.
El campo de concentración fue administrado y financiado por el estado de Turingia hasta el 1 de julio de 1936. El responsable era el Ministro del Interior de Turingia, quien también ordenó la internación de los prisioneros. La instalación predecesora fue el campo de concentración de Nohra. El comandante del campo era el oficial de policía Carl Haubenreißer. La comandancia del campo estaba ocupada por la policía estatal, mientras que el personal de vigilancia estaba proporcionado por las SA.
