El molino de agua en la frontera holandesa fue mencionado por primera vez en documentos en 1331. Se sabe que estaba en posesión episcopal en 1350. El edificio, situado junto al Alstätter Aa, fue construido en 1619. Una renovación por parte de Peter Pictorius el Joven está documentada en una inscripción en la piedra de escudo del Príncipe Obispo Clemens August.
El edificio de entramado de madera con relleno de ladrillo se asienta sobre una sólida base de piedra trabajada. La construcción de vigas de anclaje se realizó con soportes curvados.
