El ayuntamiento se encuentra en el lado norte del mercado en el centro de la ciudad. En el lado sur del mercado se encuentra la iglesia evangélica de San Nicolás.
El edificio está construido en estilo barroco, pero sin la habitual ornamentación barroca en la fachada. En el lado sur del edificio de dos pisos hay una puerta barroca de diseño sencillo. Según una inscripción en el edificio, la construcción se realizó en 1671. Ya en 1691, el ayuntamiento tuvo que ser reconstruido después de un incendio. En 1836 se añadió un ala histórica de tres pisos en el lado este como ampliación.
