En el terreno del actual cuartel se encontraba desde 1892 hasta el final de la Primera Guerra Mundial el laboratorio de fuegos artificiales de la potencial real prusiana, una de las dos fábricas de municiones en Siegburg. En 1920, en el terreno del antiguo laboratorio de fuegos artificiales, las tropas de ocupación francesas construyeron la Caserne du Verdun. Las tropas francesas abandonaron Siegburg en 1926. Posteriormente, en 1931, la mayoría de los edificios de la antigua fábrica de municiones fueron demolidos. Después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, había un campamento militar belga en el Brückberg.
