Sull'area dell'attuale caserma si trovava dal 1892 fino alla fine della Prima Guerra Mondiale il laboratorio di pirotecnica del re di Prussia, uno delle due fabbriche di munizioni a Siegburg. Nel 1920, sul sito del precedente laboratorio di pirotecnica, le truppe d'occupazione francesi costruirono la Caserne du Verdun. Le truppe francesi lasciarono Siegburg nel 1926. Successivamente, nel 1931, la maggior parte degli edifici della vecchia fabbrica di munizioni venne demolita. Dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, su Brückberg si trovava un campo militare belga.
