La estación se encuentra en la línea ferroviaria Wuppertal–Wichlinghausen–Hattingen, inaugurada en 1884 por los Ferrocarriles Estatales de Prusia y en gran parte cerrada en 1979, justo en la entrada norte del túnel Schee. Desde la estación también había una vía secundaria hacia Silschede.
El edificio de la estación data de 1886, actualmente es de propiedad privada y está protegido como monumento arquitectónico. Debido a su estado original, en octubre de 1976 se llevaron a cabo filmaciones para una película de televisión de ZDF allí.
