La cervecería Elbschloss fue fundada en 1881 en la prusiana Nienstedten y fue la única empresa industrial importante de este lugar. Se construyó sobre partes de la antigua zona del parque que pertenecía a la casa de campo neoclásica Baur, construida entre 1804 y 1806 por Christian Frederik Hansen. La casa de campo Baur era conocida popularmente como "Elbschlösschen", de donde se deriva el nombre de la cervecería.
La marca más conocida de esta cervecería fue el Ratsherrn Pils, que se estima que fue producido en 1978 en una cantidad de 150,000 hectolitros. Además, se elaboró el Pils oscuro Dübelsbrücker Dunkel, creado en 1988, que es una referencia al cercano Teufelsbrück.
