El Urberg es parte del bosque de Teutoburgo. Se encuentra al noroeste del centro de Bad Iburg y al suroeste del Dörenberg, la elevación más alta de esta parte del bosque de Teutoburgo. Al norte se halla el Grafensundern, que tiene 310 metros de altura. Al noroeste se encuentra el municipio de Hagen en el bosque de Teutoburgo, y al norte la ciudad de Georgsmarienhütte. El Urberg se extiende de sureste a noroeste. En el noroeste, alcanza en Holperdorp, una aldea que pertenece al municipio de Lienen en la región de Tecklenburger, la frontera con el estado federado de Renania del Norte-Westfalia. Por el lado norte fluye el Sunderbach. El Urberg está accesible a través de senderos para caminatas.
