El Gymnasium Clemens-August es la primera escuela secundaria estatal de la ciudad de Cloppenburg. La escuela es atendida por alrededor de 1370 alumnos.
La escuela fue construida en estilo neoclásico y se inauguró el 24 de abril de 1914 como "Gymnasium Real del Gran Ducado de Oldemburgo". En los años iniciales, desde 1914, solo se impartieron clases de 5 a 10. A partir de 1920, se expandió a un gimnasio regular, y en 1923 se emitieron los primeros certificados de Abitur.
