El castillo de Kniphausen en Fedderwarden, en el área urbana de Wilhelmshaven en Baja Sajonia, fue construido en 1438 y tuvo finalmente "la imagen típica de una residencia nobiliaria del tardorrenacimiento". En 1666/67 fue ampliado a fortaleza con cuatro bastiones en las esquinas.
El castillo de la Baja Edad Media fue erigido en la entonces orilla norte de la Maade, que aquí se ampliaba en forma de bahía hacia la Jade.
