La estación de Lüneburg está compuesta por las dos estaciones que anteriormente eran independientes de la ciudad de Lüneburg. Lüneburg Este es hoy la verdadera estación, Lüneburg Oeste es solo una parte de la estación. Ambos edificios de recepción se encuentran uno frente al otro en la plaza de la estación entre las partes de la estación.
La estación en realidad consiste en dos estaciones con un edificio de recepción propio cada una, que se encuentran separadas por la calle de la estación.
