Zietenhorst se encuentra a 16 kilómetros al este de la localidad de Fehrbellin y a 8 kilómetros al sur de las localidades de Wustrau y Altfriesack. La parte del municipio se sitúa en medio de Rhinluch.
La aldea fue fundada en 1937, en el momento de fundación había una granja aquí. La sociedad de asentamiento "Eigene Scholle" de Frankfurt compró el terreno y comenzó a trabajar en la mejora del Rhinluch. Se planeaba crear seis granjas con un tamaño de aproximadamente 50 hectáreas. Desde 1939 hasta 1945 se operó un campo de trabajo, y tras el inicio de la Segunda Guerra Mundial se añadieron dos campos de prisioneros de guerra. Los prisioneros trabajaban en el drenaje del Rhinluch.
