Cualquiera que quiera ver de cerca las históricas casas de entramado de madera de Stolberg tendrá que soportar los baches de los adoquines en la calle que conduce hacia el ayuntamiento. Al inicio de la bajada se encuentra el Gasthaus Kupfer, uno de los edificios de entramado de madera más bellos de esta antigua ciudad minera en el borde sur de la cordillera del Harz Oriental. Casas de estilo gótico tardío y renacentista están esparcidas en las pequeñas calles alrededor del ayuntamiento y la iglesia de San Martín.
