Quien quiera ver de cerca las casas de entramado de madera históricas en Stolberg deberá aceptar el traqueteo sobre los adoquines en la bajada hacia el ayuntamiento. Al comienzo de esa bajada se encuentra la Gasthaus Kupfer, una de las casas de entramado de madera más bonitas de esta antigua ciudad minera en el borde sur de las montañas Harz orientales. Las casas de entramado de madera de estilo gótico tardío y renacentista están esparcidas por las estrechas callejuelas en los alrededores del ayuntamiento y la iglesia de Sankt Martin.
