La Batalla de Colonia se luchó cerca de la ciudad de Köln en el año 716. La batalla es conocida principalmente como la primera batalla del mando de Carlos Martel y es la única derrota de su vida.
En 716, el rey de los francos, Chilperico II, y Ragenfrid, el alcalde del palacio de Neustria, invadieron Austrasia para imponer su voluntad sobre las facciones en competencia allí: las de Theudoald y Plectrude, nieto y viuda respectivamente del padre de Martel, Pepin de Heristal, y las de Martel mismo, recién escapado de la prisión de Plectrude en Colonia y aclamado alcalde del palacio de Austrasia. Al mismo tiempo, Radbod, Rey de Frisia, invadió Austrasia y se alió con el rey y los neustrianos.
