La asediación de Dorsten se refiere a un conflicto militar durante la Guerra de los Treinta Años. Los contrincantes fueron tropas del Landgraviato de Hesse-Kassel y tropas imperiales bajo Melchior von Hatzfeldt; el enfrentamiento tuvo lugar del 16 de julio al 19 de septiembre de 1641.
Tras una decisión del Tribunal del Palacio de Viena, Hesse-Kassel tuvo que ceder Oberhessen a la Universidad de Marburg a Hesse-Darmstadt. Por esta pérdida considerable, el rey Gustavo Adolfo de Suecia prometió en el Tratado de Werben el 22 de agosto de 1631 al país de Hesse-Kassel, entre otros, territorios del alto obispado de Münster y del vestuario Kurköln de Recklinghausen en caso de victoria en la Guerra de los Treinta Años.
