El Fuerte Ellenserdamm se encuentra directamente al sur de Ellenserdammersiel. Fue construido como una luneta cerrada. La instalación estaba diseñada para dos batallones de infantería. La estructura tenía una longitud de 200 metros y un ancho de 100 metros. El foso se ha conservado en su mayoría.
El Fuerte Ellenserdamm fue construido antes de la Primera Guerra Mundial. Al norte de la instalación se encontraban durante la Primera Guerra Mundial la batería antiaérea Ellenserdam y la batería Ellenserdamm. En la Segunda Guerra Mundial, fue reactivado para la defensa aérea de Wilhelmshaven. La instalación fue habitada hasta la década de 1970.
