Nierswalde se fundó después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial junto con Reichswalde como asentamiento en el Reichswald, para poder asignar un lugar de asentamiento a los desplazados por la guerra de las antiguas regiones orientales, entre otros. El nombre "Nierswalde" fue dado al asentamiento fundado en 1948 en 1952. Dado que en Nierswalde se había asentado principalmente a protestantes, se construyó aquí una iglesia evangélica en 1956, mientras que Reichswalde está predominantemente influenciado por el catolicismo. Desde 1969 hasta 1972 se construyó una iglesia neocristiana.
