La Iglesia del Sagrario se constituye gracias a la bula del 12 de febrero de 1488. Inicialmente se construyó en una esquina del patio de los naranjos , pero en el siglo XVIII se derribó el edificio, puesto que se encontraba en mal estado, para construir uno nuevo incorporando la portada realizada para la Catedral . Esta portada se comenzó a construir en 1514, la cual sería realizada en el estilo oficial de la Iglesia Católica aquella época, es decir, en estilo gótico isabelino. Su autor no se sabe con exactitud, pero se cree que puedo ser o Pedro López, maestro de la Catedral de Jaén, o el Obispo Fuente del Sauce. Fue iniciado por el obispo Diego Ramírez de Villaescusa de Haro y finalizado por obispo César Riario, cuyo escudo y sello se encuentran en la portada .
