La Chiesa del Tabernacolo fu fondata grazie al bolla del 12 febbraio 1488. Inizialmente fu costruita in un angolo del cortile con alberi di arancio, ma nel diciottesimo secolo l'edificio fu demolito, poiché versava in cattive condizioni, per far sorgere un nuovo edificio che incorporasse la facciata realizzata per la Cattedrale. Questa facciata iniziò a essere costruita nel 1514 e avrebbe dovuto avere lo stile ufficiale della Chiesa Cattolica dell'epoca, ossia lo stile gotico elisabettiano. L'autore non è esattamente conosciuto, ma si sospetta che fosse o Pedro López, maestro della Cattedrale di Jaén, o il Vescovo Fuente del Sauce. Fu avviato dal Vescovo Diego Ramírez de Villaescusa de Haro e completato dal Vescovo César Riario, il cui stemma e sigillo sono sulla copertina.
