El palacio del Buen Retiro de Madrid fue un conjunto arquitectónico de grandes dimensiones diseñado por el arquitecto Alonso Carbonel y construido por orden de Felipe IV en la década de 1630 como segunda residencia y lugar de recreo . Se edificó en lo que entonces era el límite oriental de la ciudad de Madrid.
