El Teatro Cómico fue un antiguo teatro de madera construido a principios del siglo XIX. Adquirido en 1874 por el empresario Manuel García Lovera, propietario del Teatro de Variedades. Cambió el nombre del teatro Teatro Principal. Fue pintado por José Serrano Bermúdez y decorado por el pintor del Salón Liceo del Círculo de la Amistad, José María Rodríguez Losada, y contenía 21 logias .
El teatro fue alcanzado por un terrible incendio el 17 de julio de 1892. Según las ordenanzas municipales de 1888 , no se pudo construir un nuevo Teatro en el mismo sitio.
Fue completamente reconstruido un siglo después, a finales del siglo XX, para servir como espacio cultural, espacio expositivo y sede temporal del Centro Filarmónico Eduardo Lucena. Este conserva la fachada ecléctica , con cuatro vanos en cada una de las dos plantas existentes.
