Le Teatro Cómico était un ancien théâtre en bois construit au début du XIXe siècle. Acheté en 1874 par l'homme d'affaires Manuel García Lovera, propriétaire du Teatro de Variedades. Il renomma le théâtre Teatro Principal. Il a été peint par José Serrano Bermúdez et décoré par le peintre du Salón Liceo del Círculo de la Amistad, José María Rodríguez Losada, et contenait 21 loges .
Le théâtre est touché par un terrible incendie le 17 juillet 1892. En vertu des ordonnances municipales de 1888 , un nouveau Teatro ne peut être construit sur le même emplacement.
Il a été entièrement reconstruit un siècle plus tard, à la fin du XXe siècle, pour servir d'espace culturel, d'espace d'exposition et de siège temporaire du Centre Philharmonique Eduardo Lucena. Cela préserve la façade éclectique , avec quatre ouvertures sur chacun des deux étages existants.
