Il Teatro Cómico era un antico teatro in legno costruito all'inizio del XIX secolo. Acquistato nel 1874 dall'uomo d'affari Manuel García Lovera, proprietario del Teatro de Variedades. Ha ribattezzato il teatro Teatro Principal. Fu dipinto da José Serrano Bermúdez e decorato dal pittore del Salón Liceo del Círculo de la Amistad, José María Rodríguez Losada, e conteneva 21 logge .
Il teatro fu colpito da un terribile incendio il 17 luglio 1892. In base alle ordinanze comunali del 1888 non si poteva costruire un nuovo Teatro nello stesso sito.
Fu completamente ricostruito un secolo dopo, alla fine del XX secolo, per fungere da spazio culturale, spazio espositivo e sede temporanea del Centro Filarmonico Eduardo Lucena. Questa conserva la facciata eclettica , con quattro aperture su ciascuno dei due piani esistenti.
