El Hotel Alfonso XIII fue construido como alojamiento de lujo para la Exposición Universal de 1929, que tuvo lugar en parte en Barcelona y en parte en Sevilla. La construcción duró de 1916 a 1928. El hotel lleva el nombre del rey Alfonso XIII de España, quien también abrió el edificio en ese momento.
El hotel fue diseñado por José Espiau y Muñoz en estilo neomudéjar . El interior está ricamente decorado con azulejos y elementos de hierro forjado. El hotel dispone de 147 habitaciones y suites, todas ellas únicas.
