Barr debe su riqueza a sus bosques, a sus viñedos y al turismo en constante aumento. Al igual que Obernai, Barr, al pie de las colinas de Kirchberg y Altenberg, figura en la Ruta de los Vinos de Alsacia, de 180 km de largo, que conecta Marlenheim, al norte, con Thann, al sur. Barr es el centro vinícola de Bajo Rin; se produce el famoso Grand Cru de Kirchberg. También eche un vistazo a la plaza del Ayuntamiento. El ayuntamiento renacentista del siglo XVI y las casas de entramado de madera, como la posada Le Brochet, del siglo XVI, han logrado conservar su carácter de autenticidad.
