Hace 4000 años, Bure acogió a sus primeros habitantes. Sin embargo, fue sobre todo a partir del siglo I a.C. cuando Bure se organizó como un campamento atrincherado y protegido tras las murallas. Se construyeron cabañas y lugares de culto, y las actividades artesanales completaron la economía agrícola y pastoril. Las excavaciones realizadas entre 1964 y 1986 revelaron el interés y la riqueza del campamento, el segundo mayor yacimiento arqueológico del departamento de los Vosgos. Los restos se conservan en el Museo Pierre-Noël.
