4000 anni fa, Bure accolse i suoi primi abitanti. Tuttavia, è soprattutto a partire dal I secolo a.C. che Bure fu organizzata come un campo trincerato e protetto da mura. Furono costruite capanne e luoghi di culto e le attività artigianali completarono l'economia agricola e pastorale. Gli scavi condotti dal 1964 al 1986 hanno rivelato l'interesse e la ricchezza dell'accampamento, il secondo sito archeologico più grande del dipartimento dei Vosgi. I resti sono conservati nel Museo Pierre-Noël.
