El marais fue conocido, desde la Edad Media hasta el siglo XVIII, por sus salinas que elevaron el Marais bretón al rango de mayor productor de sal en Francia desde el siglo XV hasta el siglo XVIII, con 30,000 toneladas producidas al año. Los barcos estaban cargados en el Puerto de Collet.
