Il pantano era noto, dal Medioevo fino al XVIII secolo, per le sue saline che hanno elevato la Marais bretone al rango di maggiore produttore di sale in Francia dal XV al XVIII secolo con 30.000 tonnellate prodotte all'anno. Le barche venivano caricate al Porto del Collet.
