Het moeras was van de Middeleeuwen tot de 18e eeuw bekend om zijn zoutmoerassen, die het Bretonse moeras tot de grootste zoutproducent van Frankrijk maakten van de 15e tot de 18e eeuw met 30.000 ton geproduceerde zout per jaar. De boten werden geladen in de haven van Collet.
