Ciudad medieval a las puertas de las playas del Día D, Bayeux debe su fama mundial a su suntuosa catedral y a su famoso tapiz, clasificado por la UNESCO. Ambos celebran la epopeya de Guillermo el Conquistador. Cada primer fin de semana de julio, las Médiévales de Bayeux son el acontecimiento emblemático de la ciudad. Milagrosamente salvada por los combates de junio de 1944, Bayeux fue la primera ciudad de la Francia continental en ser liberada y alberga el mayor cementerio británico de Normandía.
