Città medievale alle porte delle spiagge del D-Day, Bayeux deve la sua fama mondiale alla sua sontuosa cattedrale e al suo famoso Arazzo, classificato dall'UNESCO. Entrambi celebrano l'epopea di Guglielmo il Conquistatore. Ogni primo fine settimana di luglio, le Médiévales de Bayeux sono l'evento principale della città. Miracolosamente risparmiata dai combattimenti del giugno 1944, Bayeux fu la prima città della Francia continentale a essere liberata e ospita il più grande cimitero britannico della Normandia.
