Fundada en el siglo I a.C., la capital del territorio de Convènes (algo mayor que la actual Comminges) tenía una superficie de 36 hectáreas y una población estimada entre 5.000 y 10.000 habitantes. Los restos más antiguos hallados en el lugar datan de la época del emperador Augusto (27-14 a.C.).
Hoy en día sólo es visible una parte del patrimonio antiguo, como las termas, el mercado y el teatro.
