Situada en la frontera entre Bélgica y Luxemburgo, la ciudad de Longwy es famosa por sus prestigiosas fortificaciones construidas por Vauban, incluidas en la Lista del Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO. Longwy también es conocida por su maestría en las artes y oficios de la loza y el esmalte, una industria cerámica que floreció en los siglos XIX y XX. Desde 1975, el museo municipal alberga una magnífica colección de esta producción, cuya riqueza y variedad se expondrán próximamente en el nuevo Museo de Longwy-Bas.
