La arquitectura de este antiguo centro de detención, construido a principios del siglo XIX, es testigo de su función carcelaria: este sólido edificio rectangular, de piedra de escombros con coquillas en las esquinas y marcos de sillar, está iluminado en el lado de la calle por ventanas protegidas por fuertes rejas, mientras que las fachadas trasera y lateral son ciegas. En la planta baja, a ambos lados de un pasillo central, había dos celdas idénticas con paredes revestidas de tablas de roble y aberturas semicirculares provistas de barrotes en su interior. El primer piso, cuya configuración no ha cambiado, albergaba el alojamiento del carcelero (una oficina y un dormitorio).
