En 1817, el famoso científico y descubridor Alexander von Humboldt se quedó con su hermano Wilhelm en Portland Place, no muy lejos del Museo Británico. Wilhelm, el hermano de Alexander von Humboldt, le habría dicho a su esposa: "Qué esculturas fantásticas, pero qué robo".
