Thornton Rust es una aldea y parroquia civil en el distrito de Richmondshire de North Yorkshire, Inglaterra. Se encuentra en los Yorkshire Dales a unas 2 millas al oeste de Aysgarth, alto en la ribera sur del río Ure en Wensleydale.
La aldea se menciona en el Domesday Book de 1086 con el nombre de Toreton. En el momento de la invasión normanda, el manor pertenecía a Thor, pero posteriormente fue concedido al conde Alan de Bretaña. Un señorío medio fue mantenido aquí por Sybil de Thornton en 1286, pero el inquilino principal del manor era Robert de Tateshall, quien también era señor del manor de Thorlaby. La descendencia del manor de Thornton Rust siguió la de Thoralby hasta el siglo XIX.
