La Cueva de Turpin es un área en el Bosque de Epping en Essex que se considera un refugio del forajido Dick Turpin.
Dick Turpin conocía bien el Bosque de Epping y organizó muchas actividades criminales desde una base entre la Loughton Road y la Kings Oak Road, que en la leyenda llegó a ser conocida como 'la cueva de Turpin'. Después de un incidente en mayo de 1737, Turpin huyó al Bosque de Epping, donde se ocultó. Fue visto por Thomas Morris, un sirviente de uno de los guardabosques, cerca de lo que ahora es el pub 'The Robin Hood'. Morris, armado con pistolas, intentó arrestar a Turpin el 4 de mayo; sin embargo, Turpin le disparó y lo mató con un rifle. El asesinato fue reportado en The Gentleman's Magazine. El terreno en la mayor parte del Bosque de Epping está compuesto por Bagshot Beds, capas de arena y grava que no son lo suficientemente firmes como para formar cuevas habitables como la representada.
