El valle ha sido moldeado por el río Trevillet en Trethevy, alrededor de una milla al este de Tintagel. En su punto más alto, las paredes del cañón de pizarra se elevan más de setenta pies sobre el río abajo. Rocky Valley fue mencionado en libros de viaje como un lugar de belleza excepcional ya en 1897. El valle es propiedad del National Trust y alberga 161 especies diferentes de musgo. El desfiladero de San Nectan es un área de bosque que se extiende alrededor de una milla a lo largo de ambas orillas del río Trevillet; su característica más prominente es el Kieve de San Nectan.
