Historia
El origen se remonta al siglo XIII. El edificio tal como lo conocemos ahora, en estilo barroco, data de 1728 y fue restaurado en 1962.
El castillo, que a mediados del siglo XIX era propiedad de la familia noble belga d'Olimart, pasó a ser propiedad de Julie d'Olimart por el matrimonio con el oficial prusiano Georg-Alvin von Puttkammer (familia 1811-1885 en adelante). Más tarde, vivieron allí su hijo Adolf (1847-1925) y en el siglo XX uno de sus hijos, Gustav von Puttkamer. Debido a que colaboró con los nazis, se mudó a Wiesbaden hacia el final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Fue declarado persona non grata por la justicia luxemburguesa y sus bienes en Luxemburgo, incluido el castillo de Bettendorf, fueron confiscados.
