Storia
Le origini risalgono al XIII secolo. L'edificio, così come lo conosciamo oggi, in stile barocco, risale al 1728 ed è stato restaurato nel 1962.
Il castello, che a metà del XIX secolo era di proprietà della famiglia nobiliare belga d'Olimart, divenne proprietà di Julie d'Olimart tramite il matrimonio con l'ufficiale prussiano Georg-Alvin von Puttkammer (famiglia 1811-1885). In seguito vi abitò suo figlio Adolf (1847-1925) e, nel XX secolo, uno dei suoi figli, Gustav von Puttkamer. Poiché aveva collaborato con i nazisti, si trasferì a Wiesbaden verso la fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Fu dichiarato persona non grata dalla magistratura lussemburghese e i suoi beni in Lussemburgo, incluso il castello Bettendorf, furono confiscati.
