En la víspera del Tratado de Maastricht (1991) se sirvió vino de Apostelhoeve en el ayuntamiento del antiguo Mosae Traiectum. El entonces presidente francés François Mitterand debió de estar muy encantado. Años después, su viuda dijo durante una visita inesperada al dominio que su marido había quedado impresionado con el vino blanco que había bebido en Maastricht. Uno consideraría visitar la bodega de Mathieu Hulst y sus hijos Gilbert y Robin.
