De Borkeld es una hermosa reserva de brezos que se encuentra entre Holten, Rijssen y Markelo. A pesar de que la A1 atraviesa la zona, sigue siendo un valioso y variado espacio natural. La vista desde la Friesenberg, los túmulos restaurados y los enormes campos de brezos valen absolutamente la pena.
Particular en la zona son también los muchos restos de interés cultural e histórico. De Borkeld no solo es una reserva natural, sino también una reserva geológica. Hay varias decenas de túmulos. Estos datan de antes de nuestra era. Probablemente, los primeros habitantes ya rondaban por aquí hace más de 10,000 años.
