Ermelo; Nedersaksisch: Armelo, anteriormente: Armel) es un lugar en Veluwe en la provincia neerlandesa de Gelderland y la localidad principal del municipio de Ermelo. El municipio de Ermelo tiene aproximadamente 26.225 habitantes. En su primera mención del nombre en el siglo IX o X, Ermelo se llamaba Irminlo. La parte "lo" se refiere a un bosque situado en suelo arenoso. Para "Irmin" se dan varias explicaciones; "grande", "divino, elevado, grande", o se refiere a un dios germánico antiguo llamado "Irmin". Posiblemente hay una conexión con el santuario sajón Irminsul.
