Ermelo ; Nedersassone: Armelo, in passato: Armel) è un luogo nella Veluwe nella provincia olandese di Gheldria, ed è il capoluogo del comune di Ermelo. Il comune di Ermelo ha circa 26.225 abitanti. Nella sua prima menzione nel nome del IX o X secolo, Ermelo era chiamato Irminlo. La parte lo si riferisce a una foresta situata su terreno sabbioso. Per Irmin vengono fornite diverse spiegazioni; "grande", "divino, elevato, grande", o si riferisce a un'antica divinità germanica di nome "Irmin". Potrebbe esserci una connessione con il santuario sassone Irminsul.
