Delfshaven es un área de comisión administrativa del municipio de Rotterdam. Delfshaven contaba en 2019 con 76.215 habitantes y tiene una superficie de 5,80 km². Originalmente, Delfshaven era parte de Delft. En 1795 se convirtió en un municipio independiente, para ser anexionado por Rotterdam en 1886.
Delfshaven se originó en 1389, cuando se excavó la Delfshavense Schie para proporcionar a la ciudad de Delft una conexión con la Maas. Desde entonces, los barcos desde Delft podían alcanzar el Nieuwe Maas a través de las Schie de Delft y Delfshaven. Alrededor de la esclusa surgió el pueblo portuario 'Delfshaven'. Tenía el estatus de 'colonia de Delft'. Un retroceso en el crecimiento ocurrió cuando al final de las disputas de Hoek y Kabeljauw (alrededor de 1490) los Hoeken causaron enormes destrucciones. A principios del siglo XVI, Delfshaven contaba con poco más de 100 casas y 400 habitantes.
