Delfshaven est un district du conseil municipal de la municipalité de Rotterdam. Delfshaven comptait en 2019 76.215 habitants et a une superficie de 5,80 km². À l'origine, Delfshaven faisait partie de Delft. En 1795, il est devenu une commune autonome, avant d'être annexé par Rotterdam en 1886.
Delfshaven est née en 1389, lorsque le Delfshavense Schie a été creusé pour relier la ville de Delft au Maas. Depuis lors, les navires de Delft pouvaient atteindre la Nieuwe Maas via le Delftse et le Delfshavense Schie. Autour de l'écluse, la petite ville portuaire de 'Delfshaven' a vu le jour. Elle avait le statut de 'colonie de Delft'. Un coup d'arrêt à la croissance a eu lieu à la fin des conflits de Hoek et de Kabeljauw (vers 1490), lorsque les Hoeken ont causé d'énormes destructions. Au début du seizième siècle, Delfshaven comptait un peu plus de 100 maisons et 400 habitants.
