Schoondijke es una verdadera aldea agrícola. Ya existía en 1248. Entonces se llamaba Vuyldijke. Durante la Guerra de los Ochenta Años fue destruida. En 1652 aparecieron de nuevo casas. Inicialmente se conocía como Willemsdorp. Más tarde, los residentes prefirieron el nombre Schoondijke, sin duda inspirados por el nombre original. Aunque la importancia de la agricultura ha disminuido, el carácter agrícola que rodea a Schoondijke sigue estando presente. También puedes encontrar el ambiente agrícola en el pueblo en forma de esculturas, como El Caballo, El Sembrador y El trigo creciente.
